UPDATE 3/1: There are no more medics available for sale.

As some of you already know, I'm making a limited-edition BrickArms WW2 US Army Medic, and he needs supplies! :)

With my prototyping gear at home (CNC & Injection Molder) I'm going to cut some prototype items for his Medic's kit:

• Small Scalpel
• Syringe
• Roll-o-Bndages

Each will be small enough to fit into a Lego briefcase (which will also have the Red-Cross-on-White-Disc decal), yet each accessory will be large enough to be held by a minifig. I'm hoping all three will fit in the briefcase, but until I model them in CAD, I won't know.

I'm beginning tonight, and I will post my progress here. I'll take photos, screen shots, and may post short video of the CNC and injection molding.

As always, I can't promise any set schedule, but I hope to have the accessories molded quickly - maybe even by the end of this weekend.

Fan-di-bi-dozy-tastic! Beautiful decal work, great selection of minifig head, and the accessories you have planned should top it off beautifully.

Over this Mod's dead body! . . . or at least asleep body . . . maybe out having dinner body . . . just watching a DVD body. . . . .body getting yelled out to take out the darn garbage again (as if no other body could do it) . . . really, any activity that could distract this Mod's body from the board.

I took a "stab" (so to speak) at a syringe and a scalpel for the Medic's kit.

How do they look?

Wow, Will those look great, but what about the roll of bandages? I will buy one even if you dont include the bandages.

Will, so will the medic come with the Indiana Jones bag and the case?

Like a dream, Will. Like a dream ;)

Really, design looks great on both, they can both fit in the case, and I love the playability of each accessory. The edge on the scapel is particularly great work. Can't wait to see hard copies of these!

Wow, that is a really good medic, and the idea to include the syringe and scalpel is genius!

Though in my opinion the bandages are more important than a scalpel, because if i recall correctly, field medics dont usually extract the bullet, they just bandage it up and prepare the wounded for extraction. (i could be wrong, though im not too knowledgable about ww era medics)

Yeah, The side bag thing won't be cheap to get, don't they only come in Indy sets? Looks nice though!

Great! I agree with badger that the scalpel blade is fantastic. My only critique would be to add a few vertical lines running the length of the thicker part of the bottom half of the syringe; right now, there's little to distinguish it from a cow udder. However, they both look great, regardless!

I love them! Accessories that fit inside the limited selection of LEGO containers are priceless ... and the fact that these ones are so evocative of their intended use - and yet versatile enough for broader application - makes them irresistable.

As Badger alluded, I can see many other uses for these. Mad scientists, Demon Barbers of Fleet Street, asylum riots, Jurassic Park tranquilizer guns, and Alien Autopsies will all benefit from these pieces. And that's just naming a few off the top of my head.

As always, your efforts are greatly appreciated, Will!

I see. They would signify the graduated lines of the dosage labeling, correct? I'm not sure I can ad them without compromising the grippability of that part of the syringe.

I see what you mean. I modified thusly:

• Decreased the length of the chamber
• Increased the length of the needle
• Added a needle-guard to help the chamber-to-needle transition problem and reduce its udder udderness!
• Reduced the radius of the fillet (soft ridge) between the chamber and the needle.

Hmm, despite obxcrew's reservations, I rather liked the V1 needle as opposed to the V2. I like the long, narrow profile of the V1, while the V2 strikes me as almost having a stumpy appearance. Also, assuming this isn't a cardiac needle (although this item does scream Pulp Fiction MOC!), the chamber length should be longer than the needle. I do like the added needle guard though.

It was the "udder" comment, wasn't it? ;)

Actually, I like the appearance of v2 better, though both versions look good. However, v2 does eliminate the 'cow udder' appearance; also, I agree that the added needle looks great.

I'm loving the discussion! Here's the 3rd revision. Changes from v2 are:

• Increased the chamber length
• Decreased the needle length

How does this one feel?
