Thanks for the pics Damien. These weapons look utterly fantastic. I can't wait till they come out for us all to buy. Glad to see there will now be an alternative to LEGO knives for our troops. Great work Will. I think the machete looks better without the lip at the bottom but honestly I would be happy with whichever one Will decides to go with.
One question though. How does the size of the blade on the Ka-Bar compare to the LEGO knifes seen in Aquanaut and Indy sets? To me it looks a bit longer but I would really appreciate it if one of the mods or someone who was lucky enough to get a prototype could confirm this. Thanks.

I vote for the no-lip, thick-blade machete (the one on the left). Or maybe combine the handle on the left with the thin blade. The KA-BAR is beyond perfect, of course.

I'm not a fan of the lip either, I think it detracts from the smoothness of the weapon. Let it be known I will be purchasing several of these as soon as they come out. I love machetes, they are awesome! As for the KA-BAR, it looks very nice, and will be extremely useful, but I'm just not as excited as I am for the machete.

The decision to add the lip to the machete was an effort to give the item added character as well as stay true to a design motif common to modern machete-type items: As someone who's spent an extensive amount of time with prototypes of both designs, I can appreciate the strengths and weakness of both: with the lip, the accessory has added character flair, and is much better balanced. Sans lip, however, the item gains some added versatility as it can then be fitted into the standard TLC port. Ultimately, the two versions of the machete are a good indication of the difficultly of the decisions Will must make in regards to accessory design. Still, the process Will uses to design, prototype, and test accessories has proven itself with the high quality of all the BrickArms accessories, so you can trust whatever the final design of the machete will be, it'll be an excellent addition to your BrickArms collection. badger

I, personally, think that the lip adds a good deal to the machete in regards to its appearance; additionally, I've never seen a real-life machete without one.

I actually own a few machetes that I use for heavy brush-clearing, both with a lip and lipless. I have to say that the un-lipped ones are rather unwieldly to use, and I much prefer the lipped ones while working. I'm all for having the lipped one for the simple fact it'd make for a more realistic and "effective" BA.

I'm gonna' change my vote to the lipped version. It's possible to cut or shave off the lip, after all, and it looks more realistic. xmrsmoothx wrote:Will the KA-BAR fit in Scubacj's knife holster? I can see the machete on one of my star wars figs. I've been needing some swords for him for a while.

Those are so awesome! I need Ka-bars for my assasin teams and those will be perfect, and the Machetes will be great for my Rambo fig and my personal legoMe figure! BTW, does the advent of all of these BA bladed weapons mean that there may possibly be a, say, "bladed weapons" section of the BA website added in the near future, or will these simply be placed in with all the other firearms?
I love M21s. What, was that supposed to be funny, or what? I don't do funny. Ever. So go ahead, have your funny signatures, whilst I, for one, will keep it simple.

There are a number of edged items on the BA drawing board, and we should see most of them prototyped before BrickFair in Aug, if the CNC keeps running smoothly.l
