Colonel Strohm gently slid the magazine of his pistol ammunition into his new Walther pistol. He didn’t like it; it was unfamiliar in his hand and needed to be worn in. His prized pistol, a Luger, had been lost when he was forced to abandon Caen under the heavy British attack. He sighed at the thought of some Londoner showing it off to his squad. He stood by a crashed lorry and examined the damaged. The road had been too tight for the driver, and he had smashed through the wall. Strohm didn’t know what happened to the driver, but there was no blood near the cab. As Strohm strolled back to the rear of the lorry he looked to his left to see Sergeant Gruber marching up his now, dwindled squad of young boys. The Sergeant had been with Strohm for most of the war, and Strohm had seen combat in the last war, so the two found it easy to get along. They looked battle hardened, having just left the rearguard left to slow down the advancing Tommy’s. The squad had originally been twice that size. Strohm heard footsteps to his right and spotted the local SS Major. The two men rarely spoke, as whilst the Major was loyal to the Fuhrer, Strohm was loyal to the army which had been his home for most of his life. “Ah, Colonel. The battle goes well I see.” The black clad Major said, his hand resting on his holstered Mauser. “Why do you say that Major?” “Why else would you be lounging about by that wreck?” The colonel shook his head at the young man. “No, we are pulling back. The British have taken Caen.” The young Major sneered at the old Colonel, slowly unbuttoning his holster. “You should be fighting for it then Colonel! You have the sacred duty to protect the Fuhrer’s land and to drive back these fools!” “The sacred duty, Major, is little compared to air support, naval bombardment and the British 17 Pounder. We cannot hold Caen, it is suicide!” “You should be dying for the Fuhrer, coward!” The officer drew his Mauser and pointed at the Colonels head. The old officer pointed to his Iron Cross and other various medals. “Major, you dare call me a coward? I earned this before you were even born! Think what the army would do if a revered officer is found shot by you!” The major slouched when he realised this. He turned to his right to see the marching soldiers. “The army is always run by the NCO’s, so the rot starts with him!” The Mauser suddenly pointed at Gruber, who stopped in his tracks. “The Fuhrer will not be disobeyed!” The gunshot rang out in the countryside. Gruber flinched but felt nothing. Colonel Strohm stood, one arm by his side, the other holding his smoking pistol. His round had caught the Major in his chest, sending him spinning in a full circle as he collapsed onto his back. Gruber realised that the only shot had come from his commander, and ran up to his side, who had strolled over to the Major. The SS Officer was alive, just. He was breathing quickly, his hand trying to reach his pistol. “Colonel, what have you done, sir?” Gruber asked, looking at the dying Officer. “What sort of round does the British Sten fire Sergeant?” Strohm asked, leaning over to the fallen Mauser. “It uses a 9mm round, Herr Colonel.” The Colonel gently picked up the Mauser and grinned at it. “Much like our own MP40’s. The poor Major has been a victim of the Resistance, gunned down by a British made weapon. Make sure they find plenty of holes.” Gruber grinned and saluted his Colonel. Strohm walked back to the regrouping grounds as a succession of rapid fire burst erupted from behind him. A Mauser was a rare and excellent weapon.
I have had this idea in my head for some time. Please enjoy it and comment. The whole load of pictures

I'm not sure what happened in the story. Was Gruber on the side of Strohm or the Major? And who shot who?

Strohm shot the Major, Gruber was on the side of the Colonel. Man, my writing on this one sucked to hell.

I know, I know. It was a rush job unfortunately. Colonel Strohm: Old soldier, fought in WW1. Isn't a German, just a soldier. Lost his Luger in Caen Gruber: Veteran NCO and probably friend to Strohm. Looks after the new recruits forced into the unit. SS Major: Typical Generic SS "THE FUHRER'S WILL WILL BE DONE!" kind of guy.

Blooming 'eck, you don't check things for a while and a 5 month old thread gets dragged up. Yes, I do have plans for a new scene, fact, I took the pictures earlier today. Don't know if there will be any story to it, itsnot really that sort of scene. At the moment I have zombie German's on the brain. (No, that isn't a pun, I don't believe in brain eating rotters, only flesh eating.) Plus Blackadder Goes Forth and various WW2 ideas. None of these can be done without a large number of Brodie helmets alas. All I can ask is wait and be patient. And looking at the date of bumping, why did you bump this on my 21st birthday?
